Rocky Mountain Park: 1 RV, 3 adults and 3 dogs!

Madison flew in from Orlando and Evan drove the 90 minutes from Denver to join Jagger and I for the Labor Day weekend. Evan brought his dog (Mr. Oliver) and the rover dog he was babysitting (Rae Rae). Everybody ( humans and dogs!) had a great time. Evan and I took a 3 hour horse ride inside the National Park. Madison and I did some shopping at the art festival in Estes Park (which include wildlife roaming the exhibits).

Cripple Creek, Colorado

Once one of the largest Colorado cities with 50,000 residents, Cripple Creek was a gold mining boom town in 1890 with a rich history of minors and mayhem.

Earlier in the year, I joined the RV club called Escapees. The club setup a week long retreat of activities, dinners, music and mixers in Cripple Creek, Co. Founded in 1978, the Escapees club has been supporting RVers by providing information, support and organized meet ups all over the country. I had been looking forward to joining an event to see if these folks were all fuddy duddies or maybe some cool people to hang out with. I was very pleasantly surprised! While the ages were typically 55-80, everybody was either still incredibly active or use to be and had great information to share about traveling and living full time in an RV.

We spent 1 day driving up to Pike’s Peak. The organizers rented 3 vans to take everybody, as usual, I had to be the odd man out riding my motorcycle. I just couldn’t resist biking up the mountain.

Since Cripple Creek is over 10,000 feet, we did get some pretty cold weather. It hailed 3 times one day. September weather!

Spent a fun day at Florissant Fossil Beds Monument learning how trees ( really big really old trees) become fossilized.

Arches National Park

I had 2 days to kill on my way to Bryce Canyon , so I stopped by Arches NP to check it out. WOW! I had heard of Arches but it wasn’t at the top of my list to see. Boy was I wrong. The Park and area ( Moab, Utah) were amazing. I could have easily spent 4-5 days hiking and touring the park, riding ATV in the area, seeing the town and having a great time. Arches has something for everybody. You can see amazing views from parking lots or take hikes that are easy or moderate. I will definitely go back.

MOVES LIKE JAGGER

HIKING…..By far the greatest sport/hobby for an older man that must urinate often!

This Month’s Road Funny

Book Club:

Started “Who Knew” The Barry Diller Bio

WHERE I AM GOING:

Bryce Canyon, UTAH.

A full 30 days without moving! CAN’T WAIT. Finally get some down time to finish organizing the new coach, enjoy some motorcycle rides, hikes and more. A place called Bryce Canyon RV and Horse Camp. Close to Bryce Canyon, 2 hours from Zion NP and miles and miles of BLM land.

Q&A:

Please send me questions about the RV or RV life or Jagger or the areas I have been. Even if the question is really stupid, I’ll answer it and wouldn’t reveal who asked. If you have been to these places, call and chat.

If you would like to be removed from the email list, just send a 3-4 page written explaination and I will present it to the committee for possible removal.

Until next month,

Be Happy Be Well

Yours Truly,
