WHERE I HAVE BEEN THIS MONTH: As you will see, it was a very busy month. Lots of activities and lots of short stops. That is fun for a while, but I am looking forward to getting to Wisconsin, parking and not moving for 30 days.

My first stop was a “pit” stop to visit and get some work done in the RV. I stopped in St. Augustine to visit my son-in-law Danny, his wife Shannon and their 2 children: Andrew (5) and Emma (7). On Saturday, We all enjoyed watching Emma’s softball game. Although our team did not win, the weather was pleasant and we all enjoyed the competition.  Later, Danny used his new table saw to install 7 slide-out shelves in the RV cabinets. Thank you Danny! This dramatically improved storage and accessibility inside. He is a talented craftsman and did a great job.

For the next two days, I traveled north to Cary, NC. During multi-day road trips like this, I will often stay overnight at a truck stop. ( such as a Flying J or Love’s) Truck stop camping, not sexy but its free and easy. I turn on the RV generator and it powers the entire bus ( 3 ACs, water heater, stove, frig/freezer, washer/dryer etc). The generator is a Onan quiet diesel  10,000 Kilo-watt generator. It uses the same diesel tank as the RV engine.

Overnighting in a truck stop while on the road. Find the magic bus sleeping between trucks.

The RV holds 150 gallons of diesel. The full convoy (RV, motorcycle up on the lift and towing the car) gets 6 mpg. chug chug gulp gulp

My next stop was to see more family and enjoy time at Jordan Lake State Park in North Carolina.  This is close to Raleigh and where Eran and Melissa Kreitman (my second cousins) live with their son Jacob (2) and Eliza ( 30 days old!). Alvin, Jayme and Cailey came up from Charlotte for some nice family time an so all could spend Mother’s day together.

After the beautiful and quietness of rural NC, I headed into Virginia for a 3 week loop. My RV park was 3 miles from a Navy Airbase. The jet noise was deafening and some nights blasted until 11pm. While staying in Virginia beach, I spent a full day touring the Battleship U.S.Wisconsin and a full day and half in Colonial Williamsburg. Both were very educational, enjoyable and all in great mid 70* weather. If you have never toured a military ship, i highly recommend doing it at least once. Engineering, construction and traveling back in time you can experience the fear and pain.

The Battleship is massive, powerful and fast. The general tour takes an hour but I added 2 extra tours for $20 each. One was “Captain and Command” ( Capt’s quarters, executive meeting area and of course the bridge). The second one of the “Engine Rooms” ( steam room, throttle room).

I was very surprised how much i enjoyed Williamsburg. 1 day is absolutely not enough to take it all in. The first 1/2 day was with Jagger and the second full day was by myself so I could get into the shop and enjoy the demonstrations. There are live educational demonstrations and Q&A of how things were done 250 years ago including firing cannons, brick making , wood cutting , leather shop, blacksmith, and hanging out in the pubs. In addition, throughout the town would be actors fully dressed in the colonial clothes giving speeches and acting out full events in the street.

On the way to a stay in Virginia Creeper Trail, I stopped to take in Luray Caverns. A must see if your ever in the area. Beautiful and amazing to walk through. 450 Million Year old Caverns. YEP 450,000,000. One of the top 5 largest caverns in the United States.

My next stop was 4 nights and 5 days at a campground along the Virginia Creeper Trail in southwest Virginia. IF YOUR NOT BIG INTO DOWNHILL BIKING OR BIKING ON TRAILS…. SKIP IT!! NOT MUCH ELSE TO DO. The Virginia Creeper Trail is a 34.3-mile trail considered one of the best bike trails in the nation. The trail wraps around a nice large creek that winds through and around beautiful farmland and the babbling creek.

MOVES LIKE JAGGER: Confirmed kills this month: 1 hat , 1 small water cooler, 3 water bottles and control panel on passenger seat.

Every wonder how road speed limits are determined? It is the fastest safe speed the largest vehicle legally allowed on the road can go.

This Month’s Road Funny

Book Club:

This month I read Hillbilly Elegy. Somebody please tell me how JD Vance ( with that background) is now VP of the United States?????

I also listened to American Lion. The political naration of Andrew Jackson. The reason I selected this one is interesting. I asked Google, “what former president and time period is most like this one with current President Trump”. Google said Andrew Jackson, our 7th president. Very similar in great social divided and corruption. Not a very interesting book though.

RV LIFE: coming next month. I’ll show each month something regarding RV life. Setting up, expanding out the bus. putting the motorcycle up or down on the lift. Dumping the poop, exciting stuff. stopping at truck stops……. videso of RV parks

WHERE I AM GOING: My first week of June will be in our newest national Park ” The New River Gorge National Park”. In West Virginia, this beautiful park offers whitewater rafting, beautiful hiking, fishing and waterfalls. June 15th through July 15th I will be at the the top of Wisconsin at a small RV park right on Lake Superior. There my playgrounds are the Aposilet Islands, hiking, waterfalls, golf, motorcycle rides and some fishing. AND ALL IN “NOT” FLORIDA HEAT!!!!!!!!

Q&A:

Please send me questions about the RV or RV life or Jagger or the areas I have been. Even if the question is really stupid, I’ll answer it and wouldn’t reveal who asked.

If you would like to be removed from the email list, just send a 3-4 page written explaination and I will present it to the committee for possible removal.

Until next month, be well be happy

Yours Truly,

Mosey
